Dr. Mali Okada is a Medical Retina Specialist and Vitreoretinal Surgeon with an interest in the management of diseases of the Vitreous and Retina, including Diabetic Retinopathy, Age-Related Macular Degeneration, Retinal Detachment, Macular Holes, and Epiretinal Membranes.
Dr Okada completed her fellowship at the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital, Melbourne in both Medical and Surgical Retina and additional fellowships at Moorfields Eye Hospital, London and at The University of British Columbia in Vancouver where she was the William H. Ross Fellow in Vitreoretinal Surgery.
Dr Okada serves on RANZCO’s National Clinical Standards Committee and is actively involved with the prestigious Vision Academy and the Age-Related Macular Degeneration Barometer Leadership Coalition
She has published more than 30 peer reviewed papers on retinal diseases. She is the recipient of the Global Ophthalmology Award Program for her work on retinal imaging using Optical Coherence Tomography Angiography.
She is a consultant at the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital and is a Senior Researcher with The University of Melbourne’s Centre for Eye Research.
